Here’s the list of 7 things you should know about Webe (now Unifi Mobile 99) plan. The purpose of this post is to help you to understand and hopefully enlighten your understanding about Webe plan before making any decision to port in to this package.
Update: I’ve been using this plan for quite some times and so far I’m happy with the unlimited data and coverage. Speed? I’d say there’s room for improvement.
Update: Good news! After some times, Unifi has decided to permanently include FREE 10GB 4G/LTE hotspot monthly.
Webe postpaid plan — now Unifi Mobile 99
1. Unlimited internet data
Webe (now Unifi Mobile 99) comes with unlimited internet data.
2. High-speed internet
Webe offers high-speed internet, just like it’s competitor — U Mobile P99.
3. High-speed 10GB 4G/LTE wifi hotspot
In addition to unlimited internet in the plan, you’ll get 10GB 4G/LTE monthly for free. Here’ how to setup and use Webe wifi hotspot. If you are using the free wifi hotspot but encounter issue such “Connected but no network access”, this post might be handy.
However, if you need additional hotspot data, you need to purchase the Personal Wi-Fi Pass at RM6.00 for two (2) hours (excluding GST) which will be activated immediately upon purchase. You can share your Wi-Fi with a maximum of five (5) devices.
Note: The Personal Wi-Fi Pass can be used on any network type such as 4G/LTE/H+/3G, unlike the free 10GB 4G/LTE that comes with the plan.
4. Unlimited domestic voice call and SMS
Take note for the voice features in this mobile plan. It includes all the basic requirement such as Call Hold, Call Waiting, and Missed Call Notification.
Features that are not supported include Video Call, Voicemail, Call Forwarding, Multi-party call, and Enabling Private Number Display on your outgoing calls.
Calls and SMSes included in the webe mobile plan:
- All domestic calls & SMS to webe and other mobile operators
- All domestic calls to national fixed line numbers
Additional charges are applicable to these calls and SMSes:
- Calls to 1300 / 1700 / 1600 / 1MOCC numbers
- Calls to 02-Prefix numbers for border calls to Singapore
- 080-Prefix number for border calls to Brunei
- Calls to Special Number
- International Calls (IDD) and SMS from Malaysia
- Voice calls & SMS roaming outside Malaysia
5. No string attached
No need to worry, no contract upon signing up for this postpaid plan, you can cancel it anytime.
6. Wide network coverage
Webe is using Celcom network coverage for it’s 3G network. I believe, that’s enough coverage in Malaysia. However, the LTE network is using 850 Mhz which is Band 5 and only new smartphone models support this type of network.
Fair Usage Policy
Q: Can I use my service to download peer-to-peer content (e.g. torrent files)?
A: Yes. You can use Webe services for peer-to-peer downloads at 64kbps speed.
Q: Am I allowed to use the unlimited voice minutes to make calls for commercial purpose? (E.g. by contact centers)?
A: No. You are only allowed to make calls for personal purposes within the set fair usage policy.
Q: Can I perform bulk SMS or SMS blasting using Webe?
A: No. You are only allowed to send text messages for personal purposes within the set fair usage policy.
In my opinion, this is one of the best mobile plans you can get. The no string attached for the unlimited data, calls, and SMSes plan with only
RM79 sadly, now this plan worth RM99/month, I bet no other telco can beat this offer — with the same price as of now.
Personally, there a lots of noticeable improvement in term of 4G/LTE network coverage internet speed since the launch until now. Overall, I’m satisfied with the Webe (now Unifi Mobile 99) postpaid plan.
