I dumped Celcom a long time ago, around the year 2003 or 4. Since then, I have moved to Maxis and now to Webe. The reason was that Webe is cheaper in almost every way. Lately, Celcom is offering new plans for their customer. One of the offers is Celcom Mega, which is what I’m going to review in this post. Can Celcom offer a cheaper plan than other telcos, lets find out.
So, how many of you are using Celcom? Have you seen their latest offer and what do you think of Celcom MEGA postpaid plan? Which one do you prefer, Unlimited or Lightning pass? What is the difference between these two passes? In this review, let’s see the detail of the Celcom MEGA postpaid plan. Which pass is for you, which one is worth the money, Unlimited or Lightning.

Celcom MEGA postpaid plan
Celcom MEGA is the very basis of this postpaid plan. When you sign up for Celcom MEGA basic plan, this is what you’ll get:
This is Celcom MEGA plan alone which means it is without any pass. For Unlimited and Lightning pass, see the following detail.
Celcom Mega size up for Unlimited internet
The Unlimited pass has two options, Unlimited L and Unlimited M. Both plans offer unlimited internet data, however, the trade-off is a speed cap. The monthly commitment is the additional cost:
- Celcom MEGA + Unlimited L pass = RM80 + RM68 = RM148 with unlimited data (15Mbps) + 10GB monthly hotspot
- Celcom MEGA + Unlimited M pass = RM80 + RM18 = RM98 with unlimited data (5Mbps) + 5GB monthly hotspot
Celcom Mega size up for Lightning speed
The Lightning pass has three options, Lightning XL, L, and M pass. Lightning speed means there’s no speed cap. The monthly commitment is the additional cost:
- Celcom MEGA + Lightning XL pass = RM80 + RM108 = RM188 with 30GB + 70GB internet
- Celcom MEGA + Lightning L pass = RM80 + RM68 = RM148 with 30GB + 30GB internet
- Celcom MEGA + Lightning M pass = RM80 +RM18 = RM98 with 30GB + 10GB internet
Final verdict
Honestly, I think Celcom Mega postpaid plan is still quite expensive compared to other plans, for example, Unifi Mobile or Digi 15 Infinite. The only advantage Celcom has is their wide network coverage and this could be their biggest selling point over their competitors.
Anyway, have you checked out Unifi Mobile 99 or U Mobile P79? You can do a quick comparison before jumping to a conclusion. Let me know what do you think.
