Learn how to reset Astro decoder for all models. This action is needed if you encounter an issue as the decoder hangs at the channel or the picture freezes. With this method, your Astro decoder will be restored to its factory settings.
The steps are a little bit different for each Astro decoder. Make sure your decoder type before continuing with the steps.
Basically, issues like the decoder not responding to the remote control unit (RCU), no audio, no video, blank screen or blue screen can also be a decoder issue.
For the decoder not responding to the remote control unit issue, please make sure it is not the remote control issue. Try the following steps:
- Press any button on the remote control, if the LED blinks 3 times, replace the battery.
- If nothing happens — LED not blinking, replace the remote control.

How to reset Astro decoder for all models
Follow the below step-by-step instructions to reset or restore factory setting Astro decoder:
- On your remote, please press HOME button.
- Select SETTINGS.
- Select INSTALLATION SETTINGS & enter pin (default: 0000).
- Select Restore Factory Setting.
- Select YES, continue, press OK to save the changes.
- Perform power reset:
- switch off the power supply for 10 seconds
- switch it back on.
You should have a New Installation setting page on your TV screen now. Follow the below steps to continue setting up your Astro decoder.
- New Installation Setting screen.
- Press OK to confirm language, resolution, and a few other selections.
- Select Universal as the LNB Type.
- Select 01 M3 VL-10982 as the Entry Point.
- Check Satellite signal and press OK once scans are complete.

How to reset Astro EPG decoder
Note: These steps are not applicable to HD zapper decoder.
- Please ensure your decoder is in Standby mode.
- Press and hold the Standby button from your remote control.
- Wait until the LED at decoder front panel toggle from red to green for 3 times then release the button.
- Your decoder will boot up (red LED means it is in standby mode and green LED means decoder is in viewing mode).
- New Installation setting will appear.
- Press OK to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.
- Select LNB type as Universal and press OK.
- Select Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982 and press OK.
- Check Satellite signal, if the signal is available, press OK.
The decoder will exit to HOME screen.

How to reset Astro DMT 5 decoder
- Please ensure your decoder is in Standby mode.
- Press and hold the Home button on the decoder.
- Wait until boot appears on decoder front panel and released.
- The decoder will boot up and New Installation setting will appear.
- Press OK to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.
- Select LNB type as Universal and press OK.
- If you are using SatCR, please choose Input Source as SatCR.
- Select Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982 and press OK.
- Check Satellite signal, if the signal is available, press OK.
The decoder will exit to HOME screen.
How to reset Astro PVR and Byond decoder
- Perform power reset:
- switch off the main power to the decoder
- wait 10 seconds before turning it on again
- As soon as you see the boot message on the front panel, press and hold the Ch+ and Ch- keys on the decoder at the same time.
- Wait until you see the Clr on the front panel, then release the Ch+ and Ch- keys.
- New Installation setting will appear.
- Press OK to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.
- Select LNB type as Universal and press OK.
- If you are is using SatCR, please choose Input Source as SatCR.
- Select Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982 and press OK.
- Check Satellite signal, if the signal is available, press OK.
The decoder will exit to HOME screen.
How to reset Astro Zapper decoder
- Please ensure your decoder is in Standby mode.
- Press and hold the Standby button from your remote control.
- Wait until the LED at decoder front panel toggle from red to green for 3 times then release the button.
- Your decoder will boot up (red LED means it in standby mode and green LED means decoder is in viewing mode).
- New Installation setting will appear.
