Recently, my Acer Swift 5 laptop suddenly showed No Audio Output Device is Installed when I tried to increase the sound volume. It wasn’t like that a few days ago. Found out it was because of Windows 10 update that caused this issue. After a few rounds of trying to fix this issue, finally, the issue has been resolved. For those who have a similar issue, here’s how to fix No Audio Output Device is Installed in Windows 10.
Basically, this issue was due to an Intel audio driver being incorrectly pushed to our device via Windows Update. This wrong driver will cause the audio system to no longer work. So, in order to regain the audio, you need to uninstall the driver completely and re-install back. Here’s how to do it.

- Press Windows button + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Look for a device that has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point.
- Some may look for Realtek device or
- In my case is Intel (R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller
- Right-click on the device.
- Select Uninstall Device and you’ll get popup asking if you want to remove the driver too.
- Check the box.
- Click Uninstall.
- When the driver has been uninstall. Reboot your system.
- The audio driver will installed automatically when the system restart.
The computer audio or speaker or headphone should now work per normal.
Even though I’ve done this on my Acer Swift laptop, I believe this method should have worked across all computer all laptop brands, including but not limited to Dell, HP, Asus, Lenovo, Huawei, Honor, Samsung and etc.
