How to set up Streamyx Parental Control

·

Learn how to set up Streamyx Parental Control. In this post, I’ll show you the step-by-step on how to set up Parental Control settings using Time Restriction and URL Filter.

Parental Control is a feature where you (as a parent) can restrict or put a limitation on a certain device to access the internet and/or block a website. You’ll have an option to control them by day, and time.

Note: I’m using TM Streamyx wireless G ADSL 2+ modem model Innacomm W3400V6 for this tutorial.

How to set up Streamyx Parental Control

Login to your Streamyx modem as usual. If this is your first time, the detail steps are as follows:

  1. Open any internet browser.
  2. Go to http://192.168.1.1.
  3. Enter your login detail:
    • Username: tmadmin
    • Password: Adm@XXXX (XXXX is the last 4 digit of your modem MAC address)
  4. Click Login.
  5. Select Advanced Setup.
  6. Select Parental Control.

Continue with the following steps for Time Restriction and/or URL Filter.

Using Time Restriction

  1. Select Time Restriction.
  2. Click Add button.
  3. Configure as your preferred, some of them are pretty straightforward:
    • Username: Set any username for your reference.
    • Browser’s MAC address: Which device’s MAC address you want to control.
    • Days of the week: Check the box for which day you want to restrict the device.
    • Start Blocking Time: Set the time when the restriction will start.
    • End Blocking Time: Set the time when the restriction will stop.
  4. Click Apply/Save button to save the changes.

Using URL Filter

  1. Select URL Filter.
  2. Click Add button.
  3. Configure as your preferred, some of them are pretty straightforward:
    • URL Address: Put in the URL of the website to be filtered.
    • Port Number: You can leave this blank.
    • Days of the week: Check the box for which day you want to restrict the device.
    • Start Blocking Time: Set the time when the URL filtering will start.
    • End Blocking Time: Set the time when the URL filtering will stop.
  4. Click Apply/Save button to save the changes.

Done. Try reboot the modem if needed.

By following the above method, you’ll likely able to control your kid’s device.

However, I’ve heard from some of you that this feature is not working very well. I’m not sure what was the real issue since mine is working well.

Anyway, if you have anything to share, let me know in the comment below.
