How to find the fastest DNS servers with Namebench

Learn how to find the fastest DNS servers with Namebench. Namebench is an app which will help you to find and recommend the nearest and fastest DNS service available around you. Then, from the recommendation given by Namebench, you can change the DNS server on your computer, Android or iPhone.

I was using a default DNS server provided by my local ISP before I know about this app. And it has already been a while since I use Google DNS to improve my internet connection speed. Even it is not really a significant improvement — I think it is mostly due to my internet plan but overall I can feel the difference.

Google claims that their public DNS is fast and will enhance your internet browsing speed. However:

Note, however, that because nameservers geolocate according to the resolver’s IP address rather than the user’s, Google Public DNS has the same limitations as other open DNS services: that is, the server to which a user is referred might be farther away than one to which a local DNS provider would have referred. This could cause a slower browsing experience for certain sites.
