If this is the case, you might consider using Mesh Wifi to extend the Wifi network coverage. Here’s how to set up TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh Wifi for Unifi.

First, you need to download and install TP-Link Deco app on your smartphone. It is available on App Store and Google Play. Click any of the following links to download:
Once downloaded, open the app and log in to your existing account or create a new account.
Note: This tutorial is applicable for all TP-Link Mesh Wifi devices such as AC1200, E3, E4, X20, X60, M1300, M3, M4, M5, M9 Plus, P7, P9, and W2400.

How to set up TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh WiFi
Here’s the step-by-step instruction on how to set up TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh Wifi for Unifi.
- Connect LAN cable from main router (not the modem) to Deco M4.
- Connect Deco M4 power supply cable and switch On the power.
- On your smartphone, open TP-Link Deco app and log in to your account.
- Tap Let’s begin and select Deco M4. Follow instruction as below:
- What you’ll need, tap Next button.
- Power Off your modem, tap Next button.
- Plug in your devices, tap Next button.
- Check your modem, tap Internet LED is stable button if your internet is connected and stable.
- Power On Deco and wait until the LED pulses blue, wait until Deco M4 LED started to blinking in blue and tap Deco’s LED is pulsing blue. (If the LED is red, press the Reset button.)
- Connect to the Deco’s Wifi – connect your smartphone to the Deco’s SSID (check the label under the device). Once connected, tap I have connected.
- The app will detect your Deco and try to connect to it. Once connected, continue below.
- Once connected, the LED will stop blinking.
- Select where you put the Deco.
- Internet connection, under Connection type, make sure to select Dynamic IP. Tap Next.
- Set MAC Address, select Keep default MAC address and tap Next.
- Create your Wifi network, insert new Wifi network name and password. Tap Next.
- Use a different Wifi network name and password from your router.
- Connect to your Wifi network, tap Connect and tap Join when prompted.
- The LED will turn white.
- This is your new mesh Wifi network.
- You can also manually connect to the Wifi network manually from wireless settings.
- Your Deco is now done, tap Done.
- Congrats! Your first Deco M4 setup is complete.
How to add another Deco M4 mesh node
- Connect Deco M4 power cable and swiths On the power.
- Open the TP-Link Deco app.
- Click the plus button located on the top right of the screen. Follow instruction as below:
- Select Deco M4.
- Follow the placement guide, tap Next.
- Power On Deco and wait until the LED pulses blue, wait until Deco M4 LED started to blinking in blue and tap Deco’s LED is pulsing blue. (If the LED is red, press the Reset button.)
- The app will search for the second unit.
- Once detected and conncted, the blinking will stop.
- Select the location of the mesh node.
- It will add the second unit and optimize the network.
- Once done, tap I’m done for now and wait for it to finalize the configuration.
- The LED will turn white.
- Done. Now you have completed setup both of your Deco M4 mesh Wifi node.
