Fix Mi 360 Home Security Camera lost connection after Wifi upgrade

·

I have been using Mi 360 Home Security Camera for about 6 months now. You can read this post on how I set up the camera and how to view them on multiple devices. Just recently, suddenly the device was in offline mode. In this post, I’ll share how to fix Mi 360 Home Security Camera lost connection.

As the title mentioned, the device lost its connection after I got my Unifi upgraded. The upgrade comes with the new router which is Zyxel router Wifi 6. As I remember correctly, with the old router, I can see the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies with different network names.

However, with this new router, there is only one Wifi network name. Found out this was due to the settings in the new router which combined both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies into one, and prevented the Mi 360 camera from connecting to it. This is because the camera is only compatible with a 2.4GHz frequency.

If you have a similar issue, continue reading on how to fix Mi 360 Home Security Camera lost connection after Wifi upgrade. Since I’m using Zyxel router by TM, this tutorial will be based on Zyxel web-based configurator.

The following is the step-by-step to open the Zyxel router web-based configurator and disable the combine:

  1. Open any internet browser.
  2. Go to http://192.168.0.1/.
  3. Enter your username and password and hit Enter. The default is as follows:
    • Username: tmadmin
    • Password: Adm@XXXX (XXXX is the last 4 digits of the router MAC address)
  4. Look for Wifi Settings box, and click the arrow at the bottom right corner of the box.
  5. At the top of the box, you can see the option to keep the 2.4G and 5G the same.
  6. Click to uncheck the box next to Keep 2.4G and 5G the same.
  7. You’ll see the option for both 2.4G and 5G Wifi names and passwords.
  8. You can rename the Wifi name and password accordingly and click Save.

Once done with the change, continue setting up your Mi 360 Home Security Camera.

  1. Press the Reset button on the camera for 3 seconds.
  2. Connect to the 2.4GHz Wifi network.
  3. Resend the invite to other devices if there are any.

Note: The router username and password can be found on the sticker at the bottom of the router, together with the MAC address and the IP address.

That’s it, done. Let me know if you have the same issue but not able to fix it with this method.
