How to disable media auto-download in Telegram
- Open Telegram app.
- Tap on the 3-horizontal lines to open the menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Data and Storage.
- Look for Automatic media download section.
- Slide the toggle next to When using mobile data.
- Slide the toggle next to When connected on Wifi.
- Slide the toggle next to When roaming.
All changes done on this page will be auto-save.
Here’s another important part, I think you should disable auto-play media too.

- Open Telegram app.
- Tap on the 3-horizontal lines to open the menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Data and Storage.
- Look for Auto-play media section.
