Thinking of how to change Unifi DNS Server? Do you know that you can improve the internet speed by changing the DNS Server? In this tutorial, I’ll show you how you can change the DNS server and also recommend which DNS Server to use.
I’ve shown you how to find the faster DNS Server using Namebench in my previous article. Go ahead click that link to read the article if you haven’t done so and come back for the step by step to change the DNS Server.
Note: In this tutorial, I’m using the default Unifi router provided by TM which is Netis router model no DL4480V2.

How to change Unifi DNS Server on Netis router
Make sure your computer is connected to the Wifi network, then continue with the following steps:
- Open any internet browser.
- Go to http://192.168.1.1/.
- Enter your login information:
- Username: tmadmin
- Password: Adm@**** (**** is the last 4 digit of MAC address)
- From the menu, click Service.
- On the left menu, click DNS Server.
- Under IPv4 DNS section, check Manual for Domain Name Server Assignment.
- Enter the DNS server in to the box next to Domain Name Server 1 and 2.
- For Google Public DNS, the DNS servers are as follows:
- DNS 1: 8.8.8.8
- DNS 2: 8.8.4.4
- For OpenDNS, the DNS servers are as follows:
- DNS 1: 208.67.222.222
- DNS 2: 208.67.220.220

- For Google Public DNS, the DNS servers are as follows:
- Click Apply Changes.
- Done.
Once you change the DNS Server, go to this page and test your internet speed. You can repeat the speed on every DNS Server you choose. Just to make sure you are using the fastest or safest server.
