Learn how to disable Avira Free Antivirus popups advertisement on your Windows computer. In this article, you’ll find a few methods to disable the popups. You can choose to use the 3rd party app or simply use the built-in Windows Firewall.
I’m using Avira Free Antivirus on my Windows 7 computer. However, since I updated to Windows 10, it often crashes when the popup is displayed and I find it to be really annoying.
So, I’d been searching for how to disable these advertisement popups. I found a few methods which mention about changing “Software Restriction Policies”, “Product protection” and so on but none of the methods works.
Lucky for you, I’ve compiled some of them and the following are the three best methods to disable Avira Free Antivirus popups on Windows.

Disable Avira Free Antivirus popups using BgPKiller
One of the easy methods I found is to use BgPKilller, a small application that runs in the background and the goal is to kill popup.
It uses very little memory, as low as 1.0 MB on average. It will tell you every time it kills any popups or ads.
The step is simple, just go to their website, download and install the app:
- Go to BgPKiller application download page here.
- Find the latest version of the application and click on the Download button to download the setup file.
- When the download completed, click Open to start the installation process.
- Follow the instructions given until the installation complete.
Note: You will notice a new icon in the System Tray, when you hover your mouse, it will display BGPKiller (running) followed by the number of total kills (number of popups or ads that have been killed since the application start running).
Let the application run for a few cycles and see whether it really kills the popups and ads from Avira Free Antivirus.
The obvious time is when you turn ON your computer, that is the time when the popups and ads are displayed.

Method 2: Block program path

Use Windows Firewall to block the following program path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Antivirus\ipmgui.exe
You can follow the same instruction as blocking IP address, read how to block IP address using Windows Defender Firewall in Windows 10.
But instead of All programs, you need to select This program path: option.
