Learn how to change Unifi Wifi password on TP-Link router to secure your home Wifi network. Recently, I upgraded my home internet from Streamyx to Unifi Fibre. The speed is upgraded from 8Mbps to 100Mbps, with a monthly commitment reduced from RM150 to RM129 (excluding tax).
The Unifi Fibre package is 100Mbps with unlimited data usage. It comes with TP-Link Archer C1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. With 2.4GHz can reach a speed of 300Mbps and 5GHz can reach a speed of 867Mbps.
Note: This tutorial is done using the default Unifi router provided by TM which is TP-Link Archer C1200 wireless router.

How to change Unifi Wifi password on TP-Link router
Connect your device to the Wifi network where you want to change the password.
Note: I have included the steps to change the network name as well in the instruction. You can skip those steps if you want to keep them as they are.
Method 1: Using Basic Wireless Settings
- Open any internet browser.
- Go to http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1.
- Enter your login detail:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
- Click Login.
- Select Basic.
- Select Wireless. (If you enable both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, you will see both boxes are thick).
- Under 2.4GHz Wireless: If you enable this.
- In Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, enter your preferred Wifi name.
- In Password box, enter your new Wifi password.
- Under 5GHz Wireless: If you enable this.
- In Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, enter your preferred Wifi name.
- In Password box, enter your new Wifi password.
- Click Save button to apply/save the changes.
- Re-connect your device to the Wifi.
Done. You’ve changed your Unifi Wifi network name and password using the basic wireless setting. If you prefer more advance settings, see the following tutorial
Method 2: Using Advanced Wireless Settings
- Continue from step 3 above.
- Select Advanced tab.
- Select Wireless menu.
- Select Wireless Settings sub-menu.
- At the top right you’ll see 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Select your preferred band. By default, it will display 2.4GHz wireless settings.
- Click to check the Enable Wireless Radio.
- Enter your preferred Wireless Network Name (SSID) if you haven’t done.
- Optional! Click to check Hide SSID. This is the setting to hide or to not broadcast your Unifi Wifi network name.
- Select WPA/WPA2-Personal for Security.
- Select WPA2-PSK for Version.
- Select AES for Encryption.
- Enter your password.
- Select 802.11b/g/n mixed for Mode.
- Select Auto for Channel Width.
- Select Auto for Channel.
- Select High for Transmit Power.
- Click Save to keep the changes.
Done. You’ve successfully changed your Unifi Wifi network name and password using advance wireless settings.
As you can see in the above steps, you can enable both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi band at the same time. Both bands have their benefit.
I’d recommend you to enable both or use the 5GHz band if your device supports. 5GHz band is a lot faster even if you connect through a wall.
