Do you know Microsoft PowerPoint has a feature to record screen? Basically, you can screen record anything on your screen with PowerPoint. In this article, I’ll show you another method to record screen using Microsoft PowerPoint in any Windows version.

Microsoft PowerPoint is so powerful that it has so many features to make your work easier. This includes the built-in screen recording for you to insert a short video clip into your PowerPoint slide to share with your audience. It gives you the option to screen record just a specific area on your screen or the whole screen.

Note: The following method is applicable in any version of Windows as long as you can find the Screen Record function in your Microsoft PowerPoint. However, since I am using Windows 10, the tutorial will be based on Windows 10 instructions.

How to record screen using Microsoft PowerPoint on Windows

Here’s the simple instruction to let you record screen in Windows 10 using Microsoft PowerPoint.

  1. On your computer, open Microsoft PowerPoint.
  2. Open new file or any file you preferred.
  3. Go to any windows or screen you wanted to record.
  4. Go back to PowerPoint and click Insert from the menu bar.
  5. Under Media, click Screen Recording.
  6. It will automatically bring you back to previous screen (step 3).
  7. You’ll be asked to select area for screen recording. Microphone is enabled by default.
  8. Select the area on the screen that you wanted to record.
  9. Click Record button to start recording.
  10. To stop recording, press Windows + Shift + Q.
  11. The video will be automatically added into your PowerPoint.
  12. To save it locally, right-click on the media and select Save Media as option.
  13. Select you preferred location and the media will be saved in MP4 format.
  14. Done.
