Just sharing the latest promotion by Unifi. Currently, Unifi is giving a chance to all Unifi Fibre customers to enjoy a free speed upgrade for 30 days. What does this mean? Customers will enjoy a higher speed in these 30 days with the existing package.

Basically, I subscribe to Unifi Fibre 30Mbps with RM80 monthly fee excluding tax. So far, I’m satisfied with 30Mbps speed package, I would say most of the jobs can be done. You can check out my review on Unifi Fibre 30Mbps here.

Unifi free broadband speed upgrade: Speed test

In order to confirm the speed upgrade, I conducted a few speed tests. The following speed test was done using Ookla Speedtest that is available on this page. This is the speed that currently I’m getting:

Speed test condition:

• My laptop is connected to the network using a 5GHz Wifi connection
• Playing YouTube video on my television
• Playing YouTube video on my kid’s iPad
• Speed test was conducted on 9 PM (GMT+8)

First time speed test result:

Looks like I’m getting an average 108Mbps download speed and 56Mbps upload speed. Not bad. Actually, I’m not sure the speed upgrade is to what speed. But I’m assuming 100Mbps.

Final verdict

Honestly, since I don’t really do heavy things that need higher speed, I don’t see how 70Mbps download speed difference give any advantage to my day-to-day activities. Being said that, it is not impossible that one day I will upgrade to a higher speed.

Nevertheless, I would like to say thank you to Unifi for such generosity and opportunity given to your customers. Keep up your good service to everyone! And keep giving away a free speed upgrade!
