Restore Factory Settings Astro decoder for all model via Astro

Learn how to perform Restore Factory Settings Astro decoder for all model. Usually, this step is needed if you encounter an issue like decoder hangs at channel or picture freeze. The steps are a little bit different for each Astro decoder. Make sure your decoder type before continue with the steps.

Basically, restore your Astro decoder to its factory settings can solve most of the issue. Other than decoder hangs at channel or picture freeze, other issues like decoder not responding to the remote control unit (RCU), no audio, no video, blank or blue screen can also be a decoder issue.

For the decoder not responding to the remote control unit issue, before you proceed with the steps below. Please make sure it is not the remote control issue. Press any button on the remote control, if the LED blinking 3 times, replace the battery. If nothing happen — LED not blinking, replace the remote control.

How to Restore Factory Settings Astro decoder

After you confirm it is not the remote control unit issue. Proceed with the steps below as guidelined by Astro on their official support page.

Note: These steps are not applicable for HD zapper decoder.

Steps to Restore Factory Settings from EPG for all Astro decoder

Step 1: Please ensure your decoder is in Standby mode.

Step 2: Press and hold the “Standby” button from your remote control. Wait until the LED at decoder front panel toggle from red to green for 3 times then release the button.

Step 3: Your decoder will boot up (red LED means it is in standby mode and green LED means decoder is in viewing mode).

Step 4: “New Installation” setting will appear.

Step 5: Press “OK” to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.

Step 6: Select LNB type as “Universal” and press “OK”.

Step 7: Select “Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982” and press “OK”

Step 8: Check Satellite signal, if the signal is available, press “OK”. The decoder will exit to home screen.

If you prefer to perform Restore Factory Settings from the decoder front panel, follow below steps. Make sure your decoder model before proceed.

Steps to Restore Factory Settings from front panel for DMT 5

Step 1: Please ensure your decoder is in Standby mode.

Step 2: Press and hold the “Home” button on the decoder. Wait until “boot” appears on decoder front panel and released.

Step 3: Decoder will boot up and “New Installation” setting will appear.

Step 4: Press “OK” to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.

Step 5: Select LNB type as “Universal” and press “OK”.

Note: If you are using SatCR, please choose Input Source as SatCR.

Step 6: Select “Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982” and press “OK”.

Step 7: Check Satellite signal, if signal is available, press OK. The decoder will exit to home screen.

Steps to Restore Factory Settings from front panel for PVR and Byond

Step 1: Perform power reset for 10 seconds: switch off the main power to the decoder and wait 10 seconds before turn it on again.

Step 2: As soon as you see the “boot” message on the front panel, press and hold the “Ch+” and “Ch-” keys on the decoder at the same time.

Step 3: Wait until you see the “Clr” on the front panel, then release the “Ch+” and “Ch-” keys.

Step 4: “New Installation” setting will appear.

Step 5: Press “OK” to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.

Step 6: Select LNB type as “Universal” and press “OK”.

Note: If you are is using SatCR, please choose Input Source as SatCR.

Step 7: Select “Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982” and press “OK”.

Step 8: Check Satellite signal, if signal is available, press OK. The decoder will exit to home screen.

Steps to Restore Factory Settings from front panel for Zapper

Step 1: Please ensure your decoder is on Standby mode.

Step 2: Press and hold the “Standby” button from your remote control. Wait until the LED at decoder front panel toggle from red to green for 3 times then release the button.

Step 3: Your decoder will boot up (red LED means it on standby mode and green LED means decoder is in viewing mode).

Step 4: “New Installation” setting will appear.

Step 5: Press “OK” to confirm language, resolution and other selection accordingly until it goes to LNB settings.

Step 6: Select LNB type as “Universal” and press “OK”.

Step 7: Select “Entry Point: 01 M3 VL- 10982” and press “OK”.

Step 8: Check Satellite signal, if signal is available, press OK. The decoder will exit to home screen.
