If your phone is connected to the Wifi network and other device want to connect to the same network, you can share the Wifi password without revealing the password to the other device owner. Of course there are few other requirements before it can really work.

This feature is great when you forgot your Wifi password but you want to let other device connect to the same Wifi network. You will save a lot of time for searching your router or modem box to find the piece of paper with the password on it which your wrote 3 years ago.

How to share Wifi password with nearby device on iOS 11

First and foremost, you need to make sure the following requirements taken care of:

  • Both devices must be running iOS 11
  • Both devices need to turn on Bluetooth
  • Both of you must be in contact

On the device you wanted to connect to the Wifi network

To get started, take the device you want to connect to the network. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. You will see a list of available Wifi network, now tap on the network you want the device to join. The device then will scan for another device that already connected to the network using Bluetooth and send a request asking permission to join the network.

On the device already connected to the Wifi network

Take the device already connected to the Wifi network, you will see an alert showing another device requesting access to join the network. It will show the device name. To let the device join your network, tap on Send Password. The password will be sent to the other device without revealing the password and it will automatically connect to the network.

And that’s it, you have shared the Wifi password.
