Here are two popular methods to find Wifi password and make sure your Windows PC is connected to the Wifi network.
Method 1: Check on your internet connection status
Step 1: On your Windows bar, right-click on wireless icon and select “Open Network and Sharing Center”.
Step 2: On the left menu, click “Change adapter settings”.
Step 3: Select your adapter which is currently connected to the internet. Right-click and select “Status”.
Step 4: Click on “Wireless Properties” .
Step 5: Click on “Security” tab.
Step 6: Under “Network security key”, click on “Show characters” box.
- Once “Show characters” box is checked, it will display the security key instead of showing the big dots.
Method 2: Using command prompt to display the connection detail
Step 1: Click on the “Start” button and type “cmd” in the search box.
Step 2: Right-click on the “cmd” icon and choose “Run as administrator”.
Step 3: Once the command prompt is opened, enter the following command and hit enter: (Please change “SSID” to the Wifi network name.
netsh wlan show profile name=SSID key=clear
Command prompt will display all user profile such as your Wifi network name under “Connectivity settings” > “SSID name” and the Wifi password under “Security settings” > “Key Content” as below:
