How to find currently connected Wifi password using Wifi connection status

For Windows 7 user

  1. On your Windows bar, right-click on wireless icon and select Open Network and Sharing Center.
  2. From the left-hand side menu, select Change adapter settings.
  3. Select your adapter which is currently connected to the internet. Right-click and select Status.
  4. Select Wireless Properties.
  5. Select Security tab.
  6. Under Network security key, check Show characters option to display the Wifi password.

For Windows 10 user

  1. On your Windows bar, right-click on wireless icon and select Open Network & Internet settings.
  2. From the left-hand side menu, select Status.
  3. Under Change your network settings menu, select Network and Sharing Center.
  4. In Network and Sharing Center window, under View your active networks, click on the Wifi name located on the right of Connections:.
  5. Select Wireless Properties.
  6. Select Security tab.
  7. Under Network security key box, check Show characters option to display the Wifi password.

How to find currently connected Wifi password using command prompt

Retrieve saved Wifi password
Display current connected Wifi password
  1. Click on the Start button and type cmd in the search box.
  2. Right-click on the cmd icon and choose Run as administrator.
  3. Once the command prompt is opened, enter the following command and hit enter. Change the SSID to your Wifi network name.

netsh wlan show profile name=SSID key=clear

Command prompt will display all user profile such as your Wifi network name under Connectivity settings > SSID name and the Wifi password under Security settings > Key Content as shown in the image above.
