Learn how to change your unifi Wifi name and password to secure your home Wifi network. Recently, I upgraded my home internet from Streamyx to Unifi. The speed upgrade from 8Mbps to 100Mbps, with a monthly commitment reduced from RM150 to RM129 (excluding tax).

The unifi package is 100Mbps with unlimited data usage. It comes with TP-Link Archer C1200 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit router. With 2.4GHz can reach a speed of 300Mbps and 5GHz can reach a speed of 867Mbps.

So, basically, if you are familiar with my post regarding how to change Streamyx Wifi name and password for Innacomm and D-Link. Then there should be no problem for you to do the following steps.

  1. Connect your computer to the router — wired or wireless.
  2. On your computer, open your favorite internet browser.
  3. Enter http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1 in the browser address bar and press Enter.
  4. On the login page, key in your login detail. Below is the default:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin
  5. If you are using the default as above or login for the first time, it will popup a window to create new username and password.
    • You can change them if you want, or
    • Click x at the top right of the popup window to close or to do it later.
  6. From the menu at the top, there will be three options; Quick Setup, Basic and Advance menu. Select Basic.
  7. From the menu on the left, select Wireless.
    • If you enable both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, you will see both boxes are thick.
  8. Under 2.4GHz Wireless: If you enable this.
    • In Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, key in your preferred Wifi network name. For example, if you key in Barzrul2.4, your Wifi name will be Barzrul.com2.4@unifi
    • In Password box, key in your preferred Wifi network password.
  9. Under 5GHz Wireless: If you enable this.
    • In Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, key in your preferred Wifi network name. For example, if you key in Barzrul5.0, your Wifi name will be Barzrul.com5.0@unifi
    • In Password box, key in your preferred Wifi network password.
  10. Once done, click Save button to apply/save the changes.

Note: Once you save the new Wifi name and password. If your computer is connected to the network using wireless, the device will be automatically disconnected. Re-connect using the new SSID and password.
