How to find and view saved Wifi password on Android device (rooted)

Learn how to find and view saved Wifi password on your Android device. This tutorial will require you to access the root folder of your system file, hence, it is necessary to have a rooted Android device.

Your Android smartphones will store all the network information which you previously connected and saved. The information include the Wifi network (SSID), Wifi password (or psk), security type, and etc.

How to find and view saved Wifi password on Android device (rooted)

  1. Install ES File Explorer from Play Store.
  2. Open ES File Explorer, open Menu and enable Root Explorer.
  3. Go to the root folder / of the system file.
  4. Select folder data.
  5. Select folder misc.
  6. Select folder wifi.
  7. Select file wpa_supplicant.conf.
  8. Select to open the file with ES Note Editor.
    • you will be able to find all of the networks detail
    • look for the Wifi network (SSID) and the Wifi password (password/psk/wep_key0 – depend on the network security type)
  9. Once done, close the file without saving.

Yes, the only way to view the saved Wifi password on your Android device require root access.
